General Excavation’s part in this project was reconstructing the interchange ramps on I-81, at exit 310, at the southern end of Route 37. The new interchange features a new “spread diamond,” configuration which widened and spread the ramps outward from their previous intersections with Route 37. The project also extended the existing turn lanes and added a dual right- and left-turn lane to improve traffic flow on the ramps and on Route 37 and Route 11. The expanded configuration relocated and connected Route 642 and Route 847 with a segment of Route 37 built east of I-81. West of I-81, the project modified the ramps at the Route 37 interchange with Route 11.
